Improved Mobile Telephone Signal in South Suffolk Petition

MIP Launch Cartlidge MP

This petition is a crucial element of my campaign to improve mobile telephone signal in South Suffolk.

Under the current Mobile Infrastructure Project (MIP), the government made funds available to improve mobile telephone infrastructure in the worst affected areas of the country. South Suffolk had a number of sites identified as requiring better infrastructure and has subsequently received funding for a new mast in the Bildeston area.

Whilst I welcome this development, there is still more to be done and the current round of MIP is finishing at the end of March this year.

By signing this petition, you will be joining me in placing pressure on the Government to extend a new round of funding for the MIP and highlighting the necessity for improved mobile telephone signal in our area.

I will present this petition to Government early in March in advance of the Chancellor’s Budget on Wednesday 16th March 2016.

I appreciate your support and hope that together we can demonstrate the extensive need for mobile infrastructure improvement that still exists in our constituency.

UPDATE January 2017

The successful mobile signal campaign in 2016 has led to me working closely with mobile providers, including EE and Telefonica (Vodafone and O2) and applications have now been submitted for the construction of 6 new masts across the constituency.

A mobile telephone mast is currently under construction in Boxford, planning permission has been granted for a new mast in Hadleigh, planning applications have been submitted for masts in Cavendish, Glemsford, and Stutton and a pre-planning application has been submitted for a mast in Elmsett.

UPDATE November 2016

Boxford has been one of the worst mobile telephone signal not-spots in South Suffolk. As such, I am delighted to announce that planning permission has now been granted for a new mobile telephone mast. This mast, located on the A1071, will bring dramatic improvements to the communicative capacity in the village and will be a huge asset to both residents and local businesses.

UPDATE March 2016

The mobile signal petition successfully gained a total of 3707 signatures.
