For some months I’ve been writing in this column about the Cost of Living crisis. There is no question that we are now at the business end of its impact, with winter biting and colder weather upon us.

In last month’s column I wrote about how pleased I was that Jeremy Hunt had become our new Chancellor of the Exchequer. In writing that, little did I know that a few weeks later I would be appointed a Minister in his Treasury team.
After working for both Jeremy Hunt and Rishi Sunak over the last four years, it was no surprise that South Suffolk MP James Cartlidge ended up as a Treasury minister.
I am delighted that Rishi Sunak has been appointed as our new Prime Minister. These have been challenging weeks for our economy, with my constituents concerned about interest rates and mortgages, and local businesses looking for stability to return.
